"He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth."
Isaiah 53:7
Here Isaiah is prophesying about the coming King Jesus. We all know how the story played out- Jesus was silent while he was beaten and killed for our transgressions. Yet He had the last word and won the war doing it God's way!
What God impressed upon my heart this morning is how differently Jesus handled being wronged than how we do. We get all up in arms and cause a stink when we are wronged. We let everyone around us know- even if it was a simple misunderstanding. We carry on when we need to be letting go.
I believe God would have us seek Him before we speak and if we are wronged, then give it to Him, ask Him what He would have us do with that wrong, follow His leading, and forgive. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," (Isaiah 55:8) and we are "not to take revenge... but leave room for God's wrath, for it is
written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord" (Romans 12:19).
Although this goes against our human desire, and cultural norms, it is always better to allow God to work and not get in His way. When He handles situations for you, He has your best interest in mind and He knows exactly what everyone involved needs. We are called to "bless those who curse (us), pray for those who mistreat (us)" (Luke 6:28) for we are not of this world but just passing through.
